Whitney Elizabeth Houston was conceived to a musical family 9 August 1993, in Newark New Jersey. Whitney is the cousin of daughter to the singing sensation Dionne. In Newark Whitney, she began singing in the church choir as a small child. at the age of 15, she joined her mother in singing background vocals on Chaka's hit Im Every Woman from 1978. Later, she provided backing vocals to Lou Rawls & Jermaine jackson and her mother. She began working as a featured vocalist for the funk group from New York, Material and it was the excellence of her vocal work in the band that caught the attention of several major record labels, including Arista with whom she signed in 1983. This is where she was for the rest of her career. Whitney Houston became the top-selling debut record for an artist in the year. The album had several smash singles, such as Saving all My Love for You How Are You Going to Know If You're Good to Love? and The Greater Love of All. This led to her achieving seven US number one hits in a row. She beat even the Beatles. The album was sold out of 3 million copies in its initial season in the US and went on to achieve a worldwide sales of 25 million, earning her the first of her six Grammies. The Whitney album of 1987, featuring the tracks that I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Get to continue her popularity. But it was The Bodyguard of 1992 that turned her into one of the top-selling artists in history. Although the film and the actor's performance weren't highly praised, the soundtrack album featuring her rendition of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was her most popular single and album for several months. It sold more than 44 million copies across the globe. In the same year, she married Bobby Brown who was a previous New Edition singer. She had their only daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown on March 23, 1993. Around this time, her well-documented substance abuse began and by 1996, the singer used to use drugs every day.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN political reporter and anchorwoman. Her weekend programs are Evans & Novak Late Edition, Inside Politics and Inside Politics.
